The bankruptcies are business specific and not specific to his overall financial state. Basically, it means he has a total of five failed businesses. As in: every other business he's had has been a success to some degree, or at least not a miserable failure. Bankruptcy doesn't mean "I have absolutely no money period." His real estate stuff is still going fairly well.

Trump is an absolutely abysmal candidate and has countless flaws (racism and misogyny being the two most standout ones, along with his domestic policy, complete lack of political experience, inability to be diplomatic, etc), but this isn't one of them. Though you could argue success in real estate doesn't necessary correlate to success in handling a country's economics which would be true (though it also doesn't correlate with failure in economics AFAIK, which makes it kind of a wildcard) Hating him for the wrong reasons also makes the rest of us look more unintelligent by association of hating Trump, so
