wouldn't be awesome if for the next metroid game they...

Bring the battle to earth? i mean, i think it would be awesome if instead of exploring space stations and such, we can explore cities, jungles, deserts, etc,
it could be a story in which the space pirates discover earth and they unleash the metroids to kill everyone so they can take over the planet.
you would have to erradicate all the metroids on earth and battle with mutated humans and animals. and then battle the space pirates while trying to protect the few last survivors of the attack.
they could also make it in third person because now that we have the wii remote, we dont need the first person perspective save it for scanning or other functions in which we would have to use a temporary first person view.
what do you think?

I think Samus originally came from an Earth colony.

"She was living with her parents on the Earth colony K-2L. However, her parents died when she was three years old when Space Pirates attacked the colony. She was the only survivor." -Wikitroid

If Earth had to make colonies in this ficticious universe, then that would imply that Earth no longer exists.

If humanity had colonies, that could also simply mean that Earth had become overpopulated or ran out of natural resources. It isn't necessarily destroyed.

I agree that the alien environments are an integral part of Metroid's game experience; bringing the series to Earth would kill a large part of the mood that is so characteristic of the series.

However, if a potential next Metroid game were to play between MP3:C and Metroid 2: RoS, then I agree it would be a great idea to have the Space Pirates make a large assault with the Metroids. Imagine they would release the Metroids to very populated planets, perhaps even the planet where the Galactic Federation is seated. Samus would of course be called in to control the damage. They could even bring Sylux back, as he was following Samus at the end of MP3:C. He hates the Federation, so it makes sense that he would cooperate with the Federation's biggest enemy, the Space Pirates. Perhaps one planet would have to be completely destroyed to prevent the Metroids from spreading. All in all, this tragedy could explain why the Federation decided to have all Metroids on SR-388 eradicated in M2: RoS. It would fit nicely in the Metroid timeline.

What would be nice as well is a sequel to Metroid Fusion, where the Federation is actively hunting Samus for destroying SR-388 and the Metroids. She might want to go looking for the Chozo, as her services are no longer wanted. The gameplay might necessitate more of a stealth approach, as Samus would want to try and avoid killing Federation soldiers. Don't know if that would work, though.... Just a thought.

No. Doing so would reduce the gap that seperates this game from most of the other FP games out there. On alien plenets they can get away with strange level designs and giant helpful bird statues. A metro-looking earthbound Metroid just wouldn't feel the same.

I believe Earth was destroyed in the Metroid timeline according to Other M. Maybe they could find a time portal.

i agree a big part of teh games is teh environments. Having it based on Earth, unless it was far int he future and stuff had chnged drastically, then it jstu wouldn't feel the same. Think the closest to feel we would get would be akin to the sanctuary level of Echoes.

I do like teh idea of a story set between Prime 3 and Return of Samus though with an all out Pirate Assault with the metroids. Think that could be fun and fit well within the story.
