Is is really Jessie Wallace singing?
Anyone know? The credits don't mention any other singer.

I wondered the same thing.
If so she was very impressive, even though I never could stand her in Eastenders!!

I think this was an inspired piece of casting. She was brilliant.

I'm not certain, but I understood from the Radio Times that it was her singing. TBH is wasn't really good enough not to be but I did like that she had bothered to emulate Marie Lloyd's actual style. Music Hall singing had a very distinct sound, with a very raucous tone to it.. necessary in the time before electric amplification I guess
shareI never gave Music Hall stuff much thought before, but I really liked that. I reckon they should turn that biopic into a west end musical.

it is as far as i no. every interview that jessie did, she said she had singin lessons and that it was her singin
shareI haven't seen 'Miss Marie Lloyd' yet. But I need to see it now. Last night I saw Jessie Wallace singing a Marie Lloyd song on 'Bruce's Hall of Fame.' Despite her nerves for the occasion, which she admitted to, she gave a good singing performance. She didn't really sing it music hall style. But I like the way that she belted out the song in her own Eastender way.
