HUGE HUGE problem (spoilers)

THE PRESIDENT SAW HIM KILL EVERYONE IN THE ROOM!!!!!!!!! ONCE HE CAME TO THEY WOULD KNOW IT WAS HIM AND NOT SALT!!! Makes her last escape POINTLESS. They would've been able to find the truth, that it wasn't her, but Ted Winter. Makes the movie worse than it would've been.

I agree that it seemed strange how everyone suddenly forgot that the president was still alive and would be able to corroborate her story, but you are forgetting that she was a Russian KA agent regardless. They wouldn't have just let her go.

reply

In the Director's Cut, the President snuffs it, so I'm assuming that is the "canonical" version in Philip Noyce's rassoodock.

reply

All the more reason for her to run, yes.

reply

I kept wondering "...but when he wakes up... surely he'll corroberate her story?" Then when that never happened I wondered if I'd missed something and thought the President must have been killed. It didn't detract from the film, made it a little confusing at the end, sure, I wish they'd tied it off properly, but hey, so what, I really enjoyed it.

reply

He dies? How? In the version I saw, he was just hit in the head.

(And as for him pointing at Winter when he wakes up, I’m sure Winter was going to try to get a moment alone with the President beforehand and kill him just like he was trying to do with Salt. Either that, or he was going to flee before the president woke up.)

He dies? How?

The bloke Evelyn Salt works with shoots him in the head.

Also in the director's cut Evelyn Salt's husband is drowned while she has to stand and watch to avoid blowing her cover.

reply

Which is why in the director's cut, the President is killed. It was stupid of them to alter that for the theatrical cut.

reply

But the president was unconscious for all the time she was trying to defeat him.

So the prez couldnt acquit her. His evidence would just make it seem that they were co-conspirators.

reply

You are right there, too.

But at least he would have been able to confirm that Winter killed everyone in the room.

reply

In the extended cut which I watched on Blu-ray, there's no helicopter scene instead Agent Peabody meets her in the hospital where she is being treated and informs her that the President said that Winters was the one who launched the nuclear attack not her thus backing her story.

reply

How is it a problem? The guy was supposed to launch nukes, sending the world into a war, whether or not he lived, herp derp? Doesn't matter.

reply

What?! the president died...

reply

this whole movie was crap. they try to convince you throughout the entire movie that she is innocent basically and then NOPE. bad movie that after seeing once it is entirely ruined. a completely forgettable movie.

If you do good, you'll see me one more time. If you do bad, you'll see me.. two more times.
