Wicked! But not that satisfying...

Nice flick to watch but not really great.
There are some really fantastic special effects with fire, explosions and alike - it looks absolutely fabulous...
But then I didn't really like how they did the animations of the people, they looked a little bit too clean for my taste.
The whole animation looks a bit like they were really doing a great job but had to stop mid-film because their budget was cut so they could not give some of the animations the last polish.

The overall design was sweet to, but I think the designers freaked out a bit while creating the world... Everything takes place on little floating islands, rocks, buildings in the sky - the whole thing looks so fascinating and strange that it is hard to concentrate on the story.

Talking about the story - it could have been a lot better. The story was not that bad, but nothing new at all. They just took something known and established - we have seen similar plots hundred times...

MINOR SPOILER ALERT:

Yeah, I agree that some of the visuals were great, almost like a very good 3D video game or like a strangely bright and dark lucid dream (I once had a lucid dream wherein I was aware that I was dreaming and I could control certain aspects of the dream. In my dream, I chose to fly into high into the air where the sky was ultra-blue and the clouds were ultra-white like in this movie). I did find the overall feel of the movie kind of dark, disturbing, and overall weird for some reason. Maybe it was the voice over acting in the English version or scenes with the talking hands, or like how Gwizdo didn't tell Zoey he loved her until she showed him the gold she sneaked away from the castle- that just seemed kind of conditional, but sadly realistic in a cynical sort of way. I wasn't satisfied by the film either and it just made me feel strange while watching it.

Oh, I was *Totally Satisfied*; hell, I even teared up because I was having so much fun! Sure, there were some easily-critiquable flaws, but this was so cool and refreshing I didn't care. Oh, and those visuals!! Whooooo!

{spoiler}

The whole non-Hollywood aspect was great too... what flippin' Pixar/Disney flick would ever, ever end with a cute lil' kid STEALING a buncha gold!?!? HAAAA!!
