I am not a great follower of animation in any style, though always watch Miyazaki's anime.

This film was outstanding.

It has the best graphics I've seen ( HD/Blu-Ray).
I guess its never seen the light of day in the US because its French ?

I have 3 children aged 5, 7, and 11 who all gave it 10/10.

Its quality & appeal are a well kept secret.

Much better than Pixar? I don't think so. Maybe on par with Pixar's animation, but definitely not better, let alone much better. Nope, neither the animation nor the story was much better than Pixar.

So :p

Not better than Pixar. But it is the first computer animated movie that I would say is on par with Pixar's efforts. And given the amount of money and effort Dreamworks has put into trying to dethrone Pixar, mostly by using plagiarism or gimmicks such as bodily function jokes, it's wonderful to see something of this quality come out of left field.

A breathtakingly beautiful and wildly under-appreciated movie here. And it's not just for kids either. See it on Blu-ray.

Sorry, it's different but having seen pretty much all Pixar movies and this I see that they've got very different styles but not much of a better quality regarding animation regarding Pixar. And I'm not talking about rendering crap and all that, especially considering how much more money Pixar can use to do the technical stuff to perfection. In fact when it comes to stunning and original visuals this movie kicked Pixar's ass. The visuals and music gave me goosebumbs. Can't remember Pixar ever managed to do that. What Pixar manages is to tough me emotionally but animation-wise? It's kind of cold perfection and nothing else should be expected with budget like they have.

Yeah, the animation is VERY impressive for what it is. But it's not much better than Pixar.

I mean, nothing really is as good as Up in the animated film department of late.

Nah I'll disagree with that. The story was meh and pretty corny at parts, and while the landscapes were incredible, I thought the character animations were second rate at best. How To Train Your Dragon, Up, Wall-E, The Incredibles, Toy Story 1 & 3, and Shrek 1 were still all way better than this.

graphically the film was better than any pixar effort to date (artistically and technically). I was shocked cause I'ld never heard of this film before.
the story though OTOH was a bit of a mess esp the pacing, it felt like parts were cut out in places.
so I voted this 7/10, all the pixar films (& Ive seen them all) Ive voted 7or8or9

i agree...i liked it better than how to train your dragon....the story was a lil different...but the graphics was mind blowing....definitely better than pixar.... it should have released worldwide....it deserves more than a 6.7...
