What exactly did the villain use the pliers for? Obviously he tortured his victims before the hunt but all I saw on the leading actress was bruises. There was no bleeding visible even though the pliers were bloody and had to be washed.
Also it wasn't apparent that the victims were raped as happened in the real case this movie was inspired by--or did I miss something?
Glad you brought this up...cause I had NO idea what the pliers inplied...you see him washing away blood, etc, but nothing else. She might've been raped, but its never really touched on.

I think the idea is that they were trying to imply that he had a little fun with her before the hunt. Since he was going to hunt her like an animal I sort of doubt that he had i-course with her as that would imply he was into bestiality also, and I don't think that was his game.
They only showed us the pliers because they didn't want to be making an x-rated movie and it is doubtful that the actress would go along with some of the kinkier things he could have done to her.

Maybe, but the plot of the movie is loosely based on real events in Alaska where the perp did rape then hunt down his victims.

Use your imagination for what the pliers were used for. Look up fgm at wikipedia, or check out some hardcore bondage and you might get a feel for what he did to her the night before.
Also, there aren't many clues from the little bit of reading I've done about the Hansen case, none of the accounts that I've read go into much detail about his animalistic acts. I'm guessing they don't want to offend our sensibilities.
