Is this as stupid as it looks?

Just saw the commercial for this on Adult Swim and holy god it looks like another gigantic miss and failure like Saul of the Molemen and that other show with the two guys. What the hell is Adult Swim thinking with these shows? They're absolutely horrible with no redeeming qualities and razor thin potential fan base. Who the hell is into these shows? No one I know likes Saul of the Molemen or That "Awesome" show, so why is Adult Swim giving us another one these shows to choke on? Sigh... Adult Swim is starting to suck.

Worse actually
Adult Swim will put anything on as long as it meets a certain level of stupid and lame

Their main criteria is "how much does it cost".
The cheapest gets airtime.

i think this is actually funny
it was witty and on point.

Mellow Biafra...mellow out, man...;)

Come on, did you WATCH the pilot, or are you judging it solely from a trailer?

Trust me, I HATED those other AS shows you mentioned (Saul of the Molemen, Tim and Eric...THEY WERE TERRIBLE), but this is FUNNY...trust me.

Just regard it as 'so bad its REALLY FUNNY and it WORKS...I mean, the bits with Chains and the Overlord dude...come on, that's GOOD STUFF....;)

"Are you smelling his UNDERWEAR?!"

LOL!!
Give it a chance, I LOVE it...;)

Opinions, opinions...;)
You evidentally don't care for silly, 'juvenile humor...I LOVE it....Im willing to bet you didn't like 'AIRPLANE!' or any of the Zucker Bros comedies, correct?...;)

I LOVED FGSII...Im VERY glad it got picked up, personally...

You didnt even laugh at the Overlord ordering Chains around in the boardroom? "Get your stinkin' feet off my table!", etc?

Thats a shame....hilarious s***, IMO!

Hey, I noted your screenname, tho...'stephenking3000'...what did you think of 'The Mist' movie?

Noticed your user ID-you do know the second episode pays homage to "The Shining", right?

If I have to hear "Yamo Be There" one more time, I'm going to "Yamo" burn this place to the ground.

Alright, here's the deal. I'm no writer or film critic but I'm very analytical when it comes to shows and movies. And I'm really hard to please when it comes to new stuff. I watched this and laughed my ASS off. Every little detail was well done. The casting was perfect. The special effects are above average for a show like this. The jokes are fresh. The execution overall is a 10 out of 10 for me. I can't wait to see the second episode. How can you not laugh at the bad guy's cock sock? LOL, I'm laughing typing it. He was hilarious and a top notch actor for that kind of hilariously ridiculous role. How can you not laugh when Chains comes in and the emperor looking dude says, "Ah, Mr. Chains," and he replies, "Mr. Chains is my father. I'm just Chains," in a serious tone with his biker dude accent and over-the-top fake mustache. I won't go through every scene/character. I'll just end by saying that this show's premise is also a pretty good idea. I mean, he gets stuck in the internet only to find out that when it was created, an evil was also created and that the prophecy speaks of a savior to fall from the sky and with the help of Bit and Byte has to go on a journey to find the "Motherboard", all while learning a lesson about being a good guy by letting friends help him reach his destiny. I mean, we're all at different stages in life and we're all entitled to our own opinions, but I wish people could give it a chance. It's well written, has a good classic good vs. evil + prophecy theme like Star Wars, and while it parodies everything it touches it manages to have an ironically genuine feeling to it at the same time. Hooray for cleverly silly shows!

I agree with loudawwg. The pilot was great. The second episode was pretty good too. One thing I really liked was the facial reactions of the actors. I love this show.

I think the shows kind of lame in general so far, but I have to agree that Chains is awesome. He's just a funny character and played really well, the rest of the show is kind of a bore though.

reply

Yeah, Chains is my faovrite, he's gonna be in the next one so that should be awesome.

Bit and Byte are funny on many levels since they seem to have a real life actions to some things. Like when Kaza-a-a-a gets too close to Byte and she gringes and blurts out "Eww eww your sock is on my leg". I also like her line "Is that cupcake a hooker?". The sho is funny and does alot better than the other "live" action shows on A.S.

Besides if those whom dislike it then it will quickly fall off the map if everyone else agrees with you guys. Still I'm happy with this show and wonder how the HELL Tim & Eric keep going as well as that lousy renegade angel 3D animated show got renewed.

reply

Tim and Eric actually have alot of fans, but I think that the show was renewed for two season instead of one becausethe top brass at [AS] actually like the show alot. I, personally, think it's awesome, though knowing Tim and Eric they'll move on to something else after season three, they've said that they don't like working on one project for too long.

The only good shows on AS lately have been Venture Bros, the Home Movies re-runs, and that's about all I can think of. I enjoy Tim & Eric but not as much as those two, and these other lame shows like Assy Mcgee and Squidbillies have sucked. I especially didn't like the fat guy in the internet or whatever cause it didn't strike me very well. But agree to disagree.

That's a great idea! There's just too much of that Macfarlane crap on Adult Swim. I'm getting tired of it.

That's not really a fair analysis. I like Family Guy, but I also enjoy the live action programming on [adult swim] as well. I'll be honest though, I didn't really care for most of Tom Goes To The Mayor, and I really didn't get into T&EASGJ until the second season. Saul, I'm going to leave it alone in this post. It does suck that shows like Sealab and Harvey Birdman were retired, but FGSII is probably the best thing to air on their comedy block in a long time.

Someone's bound to say it sooner or later, I just figured I'd get it out of the way.

reply

No I get it. I usually love off-beat humor and crazy shows like this. I just don't like this show.

This show is kind of geared towards people who love stuff like Darkplace, SnuffBox and The Mighty Boosh as well as older fantasy and sci-fi shows and films. I am one of these people and love the little details and homages they sprinkle throughout. It gets better as the season goes on. My favorite episode so far was the Teenage Darucler one.

I think if they give it another season it will have room to get even better. The original shorts they did for Channel 102 (or rather Channel 101 NY as it's known now) were fantastic, so I'm glad they got to carry it on to a larger medium.

I agree, I didn't like the show much at first, but it is getting a better as it goes on. If they give it a chance to develop it could turn into a great show.

reply

I'm still digging the show. But for those who feel bagging on Tim & Eric is a sign of being a Family Guy fan is just plain stupid. I liked the stuff Tim and Eric did on Tom Goes to the Mayor. But their new show just grates my nerves.

I do see the inside jokes on Fat Guy and love em. I also am a fan of Dark Place and Saul of the Mole Men (but not as much as the other two). I hope they at least get another season to see if they can step-up the comedy to the next level.

reply

Wow! I thought Testees on FX was the worst show I've ever seen. This is actually worse! This is worse than any given unfunny SNL skit. And I do get all the reverance to classic Sci-Fi, like Tron, Laberinth and Flash Gordon. But that doesn't make it funny.
