Only 5 episodes this season?

Seems like next weeks ep is the last one of this season. How disappointing. I fear this means the show is dead in the water.

Does anyone know if there are more than 5 eps or what's going on with this season?

I'm worried, too, especially since it took so long for it to return after last season.

Also, Ryder has another show now, on another network.

Yep. All signs seem to point to this being a done duck, which sucks. I don't think it would have run for much longer anyway. There are only so many bizarre locations they could go to in search of monsters and ghosts but there are definitely a lot more cases they could have looked into before the show ended. It still had potential and SciFi seems to have no problems in flogging dead horses so why they pulled the plug on this now I don't know. I hope there are more episodes left and they are just splitting the seasons for some reason or another.

Ryder having another show concerned me but I'm pretty sure there was like a year/year and a half between filming and airing of this season so it's to be expected that she'd find another project in the mean time. Also, she has been the most consistent assistant but she's disappeared before so the show shouldn't really have suffered for her absence.

It seems something funny is going on though, sucks that no one has said anything yet. Hopefully someone will see fit to ask Josh about it this weekend when he's at that the MI Paracon and report back to us lesser beings.

Agreed! DT had/has great potential in that the host is a great draw to the show and the locations make what would otherwise be "just another paranormal show" become something different and quite unique. I think it would have been interesting to see what really goes on in the investigations too. It's so heavily edited I think the viewer missed out on a lot of TV gold. If you read Josh's book you can see that there is a hell of a lot more to this show than what we see in 45 minutes. It's a shame that they didn't do more with that side of things because the unique obstacles they face in these places is what makes the show great.

As for Fact or Faked...urgh! I got into DT by watching an ass load of episodes in a row and loved them all. It never felt old because it was always different and something funny to look forward to.I did the exact same thing with FoF got about half the way through the series and was dying. It is so repetitive it pains me. The best bit of that show is the first 10 minutes when they look at the videos they've gathered for show and tell. To me, the show lost ALL credibility when they went out to Argentina to investigate that alien behind the news reporter. I was screaming at the TV that it was friggin' GCI, it was blatant! The same sometimes applies to DT because you know a lot of these monsters are bull before they even cut to the gear packing montage. But Josh and the makes it worth watching with what they get up to in any given country.

Actually It would be 7 counting the two episodes back to back on the season premiere (and the episode next week)...
But yeah disappointing the fact that a show with so much potential. I agree with it being heavily edited, unfortunately it's what has to happen to get a 45 min show but I think they should do an investigation an episode and for them to stay there longer in real time (3-4 days possibly? unless it's a remote island), maybe have some deleted clips on the syfy website.
Again it's a shame that it isn't looking to good for DT, especially since there has been a massive boost in paranormal related shows over the years. Fact or Faked, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Haunter Collector, Haunted Highway, School Spirits... and that's just SYFY's shows.
Most of these are very much the same thing, the only really diverse shows are fact or faked and DT...
Well anyway, I hope that it's just a little bit slow rather then being axed. If the worst comes to the worst, I hope it get's picked up by another channel, however that seems somewhat unlikely...
