I don't mind slow-burning movies. One of the best horror movies I've seen recently was The House of the Devil and nothing actually happened for a while in that either, but it had nice tension and fun characters to keep me interested.
This had absolutely nothing other than its crisp cinematography. There was one "weird" moment and then it ended and kept droning on.
I wish that we had aborted the film before its unsatisfactory conclusion. Was it supposed to be bits and pieces of "Rosemary's Baby," "The Devil's Claw," The Wicker Man" and other similar oldies? Impossible to miss the familiar plot twists, all poorly cobbled together. My husband commented: "Let's not see any more Belgian films."

shareThe setup took way too long and I didn't believe that she would move in with the guy so fast. If more of the film had been like the last 15 minutes, it would have been creepier overall. The visuals at the guild were so excellent with the overcast sky and mud everywhere. It's too bad more of the film didn't take place there.
shareI somewhat agree. For me it seemed like 2 separate films. It became one of those horribly creepy 70's films in the last 10 minutes. Up to that point it just seemed like a boring suspense/drama which was watchable for me. But I personally didnt like the last 10 minutes... (spoiler) the grandmother being evil, the creepy mask it just took me back to those films that made me sick to my stomach and i actually fast forwarded that part a bit.
The ending was interesting, bizarre and even a bit emotional - but still didnt match up to the rest of the film. I know it was mentioned a few times and she even foresaw it in a dream... but it just didnt work for me. I thought it was a film where the lost woman would be found and something of interest would take place with the other characters - (i know boring and predictable) but this ending was just... weird.
