Just a question...

I'm watching this movie now as I type and I'm curious about something..what the fudge is that black powder *beep* in Marie's panties and when she was showering?

Or it was just dirt which got in her panties when they were fooling around in the woods.

Not everything in this movie can be logically explained, use your imagination.

It's because the movie is too bad. You have to fill the gaps yourself to keep watching it.

SPOILERS!!

No, I don't think it's dirt from the flowers. I had the impression that this was what Bobby was depositing in her when they made love. There's a scene outside the cellar door when Marie approaches it, and the dirt on the floor outside the door (looking much like the dirt Marie sees coming from herself) starts to shake and shimmy then disappear under the door. I think that Michael Friesen is correct, that it shows she's been marked by the Guild.

Not a very good film I didn't think. The ending was lame, and there were just too many gaps that were unexplained or didn't make sense. Such as, was she pregnant? The blood test results would have been good. And where had Hella been? How did she just re-appear? The Samhain festival occurred every 7 years, but Hella had been gone only 8 months, presumably to see out her gestation period. So who was she pregnant with before Marie's death and rebirth? And why was she now with Marie's coach? Was he in on it too? Was Dirk killed?

And so on.......

I think that since Hella was doing all this specific research on the "black hole" that she may have actively volunteered to have a different life. And since it wasn't exactly 7 years yet, she simply came out into perhaps, a different world altogether, like a black hole, it would've been a parallel universe...but that's just my take. And I don't think Hella was with Marie's coach, but I could be wrong?

That wasn't the coach, it was an older version of Dirk. In other words, it was the actor that played Dirk, but looking older and bald. Hella also looked much older in the birth scene. Didn't really understand what that was all about, but I enjoyed the movie anyway, despite the confusion at the end.

Actually, that was definitely the coach and not an older Dirk. Presumably with his girlfriend/wife and not Hella. It's probably safe to say that Hella wasn't part of the ritual and it was just a random (but not really so random) reincarnation.

I agree that it WAS definitely the coach, but also that the woman is Hella and called that by name. What she is doing with the coach, I have no idea.

reply

The woman was definitely Hella and this was probably just a twist to do heads in a little. The guy was definitely the coach...because remember, Marie had stated she wanted to 'start all over again' so he was the right dad for the job.

Agreed. May be not each time they made love but may be at significant points, e.g. after making love in the forest or on the river bank.

Re-lack of explanation raised by you and stafford. The lack of this in a film does not make it 'bad' or 'not good'. This film had lost of surreal moments and imagery. I'm confident that subsequent watches would tie a story together for the viewer but that story may not seem logical or rational.
