I really hated this film...

I liked Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccor and Kung Fu Hustle, but this one was a real flopper.

It seems to have the perfect formula... Poverty stricken people doing the extraordinary and good. Or the goofy loser overcoming obstacles. In those movies, you fall in love with their imperfections.

But this one... there's nothing lovable about it. The kid is spoiled... and Stephen Chow, although a good guy-- he doesn't do anything for the film. If you take him out, the film wouldn't miss him at all.

I did like the bits of Looney-Tuney sort of slap stick comedy, but in the end, I've decided to sell my copy to Game Stop and rewatch Shaolin Soccor and Kung Fu Hustle.

I mean, they don't even know the sacrifice that little thing did!
C'mon..

The story could have been a whole lot better.

They're not supposed to know of CJ7's sacrifice, that's what makes it poignant. And I liked Chow in this film, I thought he had a lot of gravitas.

Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'

You're comparing peaches to lemons. "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Shaolin Soccer" are completely different movies, not to mention Genres. 'CJ7' is a kids' film and it is geared towards nothing but that, the plot of this film is all about teaching the young of today with moral and ethics, etc. so they can grow up to be the better person tomorrow.
Shaolin and Kung Fu is for something else.

Stephen said that he was going to get another actor to play the part that he played, but in the end, with him as the director, it turned out that he was the least expensive person to play the part!

This movie is so much like Koi... Mil Gaya it's almost uncanny. I wonder if that's where the idea came from.
