Actually had no idea Dicky was played by a girl

I've watched films where boy characters were portrayed by girls and was noticeable, but it wasn't so much the case here (for me, at least). The young actress did a pretty nice job. Had me fooled.

I just noticed that in the making of on the dvd. I was shocked.

I didn't know either.

It seems a lot of the characters played opposite. The question I have then is what about the girl Dicky liked?

not to be mean but it isn't that hard asian kids are not that distinguishable when it comes to their sex lol

I've seen photos of Caucasian and African kids that I can't really tell whether they are boys or girls. It's not just Asians.

Remember that is Shakepeare's day, women's acting roles were always played by boys. Probably the origin of English transvestite pantomime.

PS I've just returned from a family holiday in Pattaya, Thailand, where I saw a spectacular cabaret show of transvestites/trans-sexuals. Remarkable - they looked absolutely beautiful and looked authentic, at least in the upper parts ! I believe they are saving up for operations to complete the bottom half too !

I too was shocked. But i guess if you take 3 young girls (pre-puberty), give them very boyish haircuts. Fit them out in a boys school uniform, they would easily pass as boys.
