Inappropriate for kids?

I rented this from Netflix for my cousins ages 10, 9 and 9. however it was on on Demand...I had to read the subtitles to them..we got up to the point of when they annouce the UFo on the store Tv when my dad comes in and says oh no this is not for children...I hadn't seen it yet..I just watched the ntflix disc and it seemed different from the Starz broadcast..for example i think the child uses the s word on Starz when discussing why he eants to be poor...having watched the whole thing the only thing I could think would be objectionable was the toilet sequence...

I think it's fine for kids. My 11 year-old niece watched it and loved it and even cried at some points in the movie. She did well with the subtitles and she loved the chance to see a movie about children from another country. Like the other poster said, it depends on the kid. But I feel that this is a great movie for kids.

Perhaps it's inappropriate for some U.S. parents, however I bet kids will love it.

CJ7 is not your generic, dull and aseptic Disney flick. Stephen Chow actually believes kids are not retarded but smart enough to know when something is meant only to be funny.

I really enjoyed it and my 9 years-old child loved it.

Of course its not inappropriate for kids. It 'IS' a kids film to be enjoyed by all ages.

I don't mind the 's words'. But the only moment I shuddered and wondered whether this movie was suitable for my 8 year old (the same age as Dicky) was when Dicky 'saw ghosts' and saw a woman falling down with a rope around her neck, and breaking her neck. That was a bit much.

For the rest, we thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The fact that it is from a distant country only enhances the experience: there is a lot that our kids have in common with Chinese kids. Widening horizons is a great part of the movie experience.
