The Subtitles Stink!

I just saw this movie on Starz. Great flick. Loved it. Would have enjoyed it better, but the subtitles (uh, font-style?) totally suck. They were a puke yellow and thin and barely readable. I don't understand; why make a good flick, know you made a good flick, and you export it, -- and you can't take the slightest extra care to ensure the subtitles can be easily read? Reminded me of the gag in the Austin Powers flick with the white-on-white subtitles. These were just as bad.

I agree. I tried watching it at my brother's house on his crappy tv sitting far back. It was hard to read unless there was a dark background. I gave up even paying attention and just watched the movie instead of reading the subtitles.

Maybe there are different editions. I just watched the DVD and the subtitles were very readable and letter boxed. My eyes make it difficult to read bad subtitles, so I was really pleased with this one. Fun movie, too, even for adults.

I agree about the subtitles - this looks like it would be a very enjoyable film, but I can't seem to get very far in it without being completely lost because I can't make out what the subtitles are. I can't believe that someone actually watched this with the subtitles like this while they were editing it and failed to notice that it was mostly unreadable. I'm trying to watch it on Encore On Demand but I'm only 5 minutes into it and already I'm ready to give up the attempt because I missed most of what was being said and have no idea why they're making fun of a poor boy with dirty shoes.

I just watched a region B Blu-Ray copy of CJ7 and the subtitles were VERY easy to read, they were large bold and white with a think black outline for brighter scenes.
