my opinion

let me just say that my spanish vocabulary has about 10 words in it yet i find myself watching this show every night. i even had a friend tivo an episode and burn it to dvd because i had to miss it 1 night. i have never watched a soap opera in my life and probably will not again however i can follow this one with interest. thankfully my wife is fluent in spanish and is patient enough to translate line by line for me.

in my opinion most of the characters mesh well and have decent acting skills. what skills they lack they more than make up with attitude. rodrigo should definitely play more of the action hero part so i would look forward to more action scenes with him (i enjoyed the scene when he takes back gaviota's belongings from the collector). i cannot picture him so reserved with some of the stuff going on to him. i would definitely attack Aaron 1st chance i got if i was him yet the writers don't let this happen. they push each other a little but thats about it. it's all temper but no push comes to shove. Speaking of Aaron, i like the role he plays. He has the right look and attitude for a villian character. he is a little tight and needs to loosen up a bit but overall (more cocky less controlling) i look forward to seeing what chaos he creates each episode along with 'don' francisco. a player and a half, francisco helps keep things intriguing when the typical love story between rodrigo and gaviota runs into a dry spell. he and isadora belong together. they could scam on each other all day long and keep the show running by themselves. lol.

personally, i do have a problem with James. He just seems like some american actor who took spanish in school and decided to pretend to be spanish; something to the affect of a hacienda owner no less. he just seems so out of place and his facial expressions are beyond comparison. his eyes pop out of his head every time he talks. he acts to meek and meager all of the time too. i just can't believe he owns or runs a tequila plantation and acts like that all of the time. all in all, he has potential but i think he needs to personally develop his character more.

i am also not impressed by Aaron's new wife, the red head. i know this is her role but i personally am not impressed with her acting. again, i don't have much experience with spanish shows (she could be an excellent actress in some other show) but her acting doesn't move me at all.

i don't think gaviota is too old playing alongside rodrigo however if what people on here are saying is right about what age they should be for this soap opera, then there is no way they look late teens or early twenties. that is definitely not happening. then again, i wouldn't expect someone who is going for their doctorate in school, is a director at a huge corporation, and runs a tequilla plantation to be so young either. not that it couldn't happen. i just wouldn't expect it. i think they have decent chemistry together and i look forward to their scenes together. obviously they are the crux of this show so if they didn't fit the ratings would show and it would be taken off the air.

just my 2 cents. i can't wait until rodrigo finally confronts his family about everything they did and hid from him. he and Aaron should definitely duke it out. he should put everyone in the family who plotted against him to shame. finally, he needs to run into francisco with isadora one more time so he can just go off on them and flush out the truth of it all. time for some payback!

I love this show; I'm only going to miss it if I'm sick or we have satellite outage. It's in the TiVo, so if I'm sick, I won't miss it. Eduardo YaƱez is incredible. What presence!
