I enjoyed the documentary but I was kind of surprised when I saw that Patti Smith was listening to tunes in her apartment on a compact stereo system from the 70's.

I guess that I kind of anticipated her music gear to be something more revealing musically to get more of the nuances from music.

patti's not especially known for her nuance.

but there's an old story about the beach boys (i think), who wouldn't release a song until they could hear how it sounded coming out of a car radio - which weren't known for their high fidelity capabilities back in the early 60s.
