...but with a rap theme obviously. It is entertaining but since all the jokes are the same, if you have already watched the original you won't find anything new here. Admittedly, the writers of this were quite creative in recreating the situations of This is Spinal Tap which dealt with an 80s metal band so that they fit a late 00s rap senario.

shareI thought that the scenes that borrowed from Spinal Tap were decently done, considering that they didn't make a huge deal out of the reference, it was just there, able to be connected up with the original if you had seen it or were that observant. I didn't feel the Spinal Tap references were crammed down your throat, though.

That's the point. That's why it's funny. It's a gangsta rap version of Spinal Tap, hence "glockumentary". Anyone who didn't get that or didn't think the movie was funny seriously needs to pop a 40 top, burn a philly and try again.
shareI just watched this and I think that did a half-decent job of remaking Tap, a movie I have seen 20 times. I just realized that Gangsta Rap rhymes with Spinal Tap, which is probably Spinal Tap reference #7,364 from this movie.
While I rated Tap 10/10 on IMDB for being such a groundbreaking film, I gave this one a 5/10. Although it lacked originality, the songs were banging, they did a good job of updating the jokes from Tap, and it definitely made me laugh numerous times.
Maybe if they had some money for post-production, and actually said thank you to Rob Reiner in the credits, I may have rated it higher.
