So in the end, he sees a glow around Claire. Then disappears and returns stating he got lost, then they show Claire with Paul. SO . . . what the hell happened? lol. Did he die or did Claire? Or were they fine? Thanks so much for clearing it up.

As far as I could tell she died. He was never in danger of death. Malkovich was just grooming him to be a messenger. Evangeline's character died and met her son in the afterlife. Can you tell me how the lightning connects to anything. His daughter was drawing it in her book and it never connected back to anything.
