Was this short movie released for the first time on the DVD "Dynamic 01" or was it released on David Lynch's official site before that?
If it was released before "Dynamic" DVD, then the release date on IMDB is wrong. The DVD was released in January 2007, but I'm not sure if the short film was released for the first time then.
Does anyone know this?
you are right. this short film was released since a long time on his site.
that was 2003. for me it's to difficult to make changes on imdb, and killed my energy. maybe they have some rules that saying when a film was really open to all was a release.

It was actually me that added this film to the database, and I put in the DVD release date, not knowing when the film was originally made or added to the website. I was thinking about adding some of the other shorts from the Dynamic:01 DVD as well -- are there release dates available for those other than Jan 2007? I'm thinking here of "Lamp", "Out Yonder" and "The Bug Crawls".

I have no idea. But to me, "Lamp" isn't a short movie. It's kind of a documentary / home movie. Just like "Intervalometer Experiments" isn't a short movie either. I wouldn't add those to IMDB. I would add "Out Yonder" and "The Bug Crawls". That's just my opinion though :)
It would be great if you could find the original release dates on those shorts though. I mean when they were released on the website.
