Matinees?

I was told by someone who works in the theatre business that approximately 80% of the time for matinees, the lead performer will not appear.

I hope this is total nonsense, because I have paid the exact same price as an evening ticket in the hope of seeing Lee Mead.

If I wanted to see someone else in the role, I would have happily booked for my local theatre to see Craig.

For West End prices, I think that the same consideration should be given for all performances.

I don't know whether that is true, i certainly haven't heard that. From what Lee has said though, he plans on doing all of his shows a week apart from in the weeks that he has booked holiday and then Lewis is going to be playing Joseph. Unless the person you heard it off actually works at the Adelphi theatre, then i wouldn't worry to much. It might be standard practice in the theatre they work in but not everywhere else. You could try ringing up the theatre and asking them whether it is true?

I don't know who told you that, but I wouldn't believe it if I were you.
Lee's done all his shows so far as far as I know. Including matinees.

I've seen quite a few matinees in the West End theatre circuit, and they've all had the full principal cast. So as long as Lee's health stays in top form he will be performing matinees too, don't worry!

Might have a whiskey and a bath...

We saw the show today, and Lee was Joseph.

What a fantastic Joseph he is too.

Well worth the telephone bill!

saw matinee today, Lee was injured so Lewis did it (he was actually really good - seems to have matured!). BUt if Lee was planning on doing it then he sounds like he does do matinees

Whoever told you that is basically correct, it is unusual for the leads in a show to do the matinees - please note the girl playing the Narrator in Joseph doesn't do the matinees. However, Lee Mead is that rare exception to the rule and he does do every show - other than the already advertised dates he has off for holiday and the occasional one he can't do through illness/injury.
