I've only seen the pilot and the end of the most recent episode, but from the moment I saw the ad, I knew they would pair her up with a white guy. Stupid TV. BTW, sorry if this has already been said.

I know he's not the ONLY white person, but white people are definitely the minority in Africa. I've only seen one episode, so maybe there are a lot more white characters around that I did not see.

Although, you are pretty much correct on White/Black percentages in South Africa Wikipedia is not the world's best source for info since pretty much any idiot can get in and change data for fun, from ignorance and for foul purpose.

A person isn't racist because they date within their own ethnic group, but rather because they believe and espouse the belief that people OUGHT to date (and pro-create) only with those in the same ethnic group.

first off, you can never be right or wrong when it comes to race and coments concerning race, and someone will always take offense, because its so touchy of a subject,
first slaves that were "imported" as someone said to italy were the egyptians, back then they were the slaves everywhere you went, then the jews.....study some history and not the internet before you make comments against someone else because even if they are worng u probaly are too and therefore you are the same and just keeping the cycle of negativity going,
second, their is money in south africa though it is not dispersed as it is in america, their are way more extremes there, and thats sad to me, i went to school and was an ra and worked with exchange students, two of my ra friends were from south africa, one "white" and one "black" and even from the same place they were different but that doesnt have to do with color but lifestyle, thats where the real differences come in, not color but amount of money and how long the family has had the money, people who are poor and get rich do not act or have the same values as those who have been rich for centuries and will contunie on and im not saying either acts better than the other, they act different and again im talking about money not color, if you study sociology you see thats where the real differences are and that people contubute that to color
the big differences between colors besides the superficial are the fact that in america theirs a history that has always divided not only colors but ethnicty, and alot of people keep that going, its not wrong to want to "mate" with those that are similar to you, in looks, background, ethnicity, religion, and color, it makes for an easier like between the people in the relationship but it doesnt mean that you hate anyone different from you and that you arent open to relationships with those who are different than you.
lastly alot of the problem is that when people of different races "mingle", date or marry whatever term you want to use, people from bothe races critizise it, it seems its okay in this country to be friends and neighbors with each other but interracial dating and marriage is still not okay on the large scale accoriding to alot of people and who knows if that will change
I know that i have friends of different races, ethnics, social classes, ect and my i have a nephew who is interracial and i love him as i do my niece who isnt, i have students of all races and ethnicities and mixed and i treat them al the same and care for their futures all the same so it is okay to want to marry someone who is like you in any way you feel but to put you opinions on others is not okay and thats just the summary,

I think as an American maybe she is dating the British guy more on the idea they are both outsiders and have that perspective on the various South African cultures. They are real Brits, NOT English South Africans (being married to the later I can assure there is a difference).
Be they ethnically English South Africans or Zulus or Indian South Africans, or Afrikaneers or Ndebele or whatever they'd have that Rainbow Nation thing going that Leah Pipes character and her BF wouldn't necessarily fully get, they wouldn't maybe even know at times they were being insensitive and I think that is something the series has commented on in a subtle manner. I didn't see the pairing in terms of ethnic groups perse, and last I checked there was only one type of humanoid race alive on this planet at this time (Homo Sapiens Sapiens).
Most of the previledged people there are still white but that is changing as more blacks gain economic and educational opportunities. They have done more in the last 13 years since Aparthied fell than we did here in the US after the first 13 years after slavery so I wouldn't throw stones. I don't think it should matter if she ends up with a white or black or whatever, either way it would be too preachy.

if the like each other and can get along well, then they ARE meant to be together. forget what anyone else thinks. if you dont have a stake in their lives, then who are you to tell them what to do? it's not like you are important to anyone who doesnt know you, and even if you do know someone in an interracial relationship, you dont know how they are together and you dont pay the bills, so shut up.
