Jeff Danna + Akira made a beatiful score

Say what ever you want about the movie, you can't deny it's a great musical score.

Jeff Danna really outdid himself her along with Akira.

Thoughts?

I haven't heard the score outside the theater. But I predict it's only good inasmuch it was taken from Akira's original video game music.

reply

I own all SH scores, yes it's been remixed from sh1-3, but a lot of the new content is from Jeff Danna and it makes for a more ambient sound compared to the actual video games.

I'll take a look, errrr, take a listen. You get it on youtube? Pandora? they still make cds?

reply

I despise horrendous lossy music (itunes can rot in hell), so I buy most of the stuff I can on CD or lossless.

Here's a playlist on youtube:

I bought the CD from lakeshore records when it was available.

His best score was Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Forget the movie but listen to the music when you watch the film, it's amazing.

It's a shame that the end credits had that ridiculously embarrassing metal-ish song 'Silent Scream'. As if horror films weren't associated with teenager-oriented metal enough.

reply

I disagree, 'Silent Screams' was awesome.

It is indeed a fantastic soundtrack. The Carousel/Red Pyramid Battles the Missionary in particular is so beautiful and pulse pounding. Shame it couldn't have been for a better movie.

Akira Yamaoka IMHO is one of the greatest, most underrated, and neglected musical geniuses out there. His works deserve a Grammy.

When I'm good, I'm GOOD. When I'm bad, I'm BETTER.

The soundtrack was deifinitely the highlight of the film (not that that was hard to do though -- movie was mediocre). Yamaoka is a genius and Jeff Danna is criminally underrated (as someone else said the OST for RE: Apocalypse was great in spite of the film being bad).
