I hate this because I like Silent Hill.

Yes, the message of the games could result in an expectacular movie, revolving around a good story and not pleasing the fans, please. . .

If you haven't already I HIGHLY suggest you watch youtuber twin perfects massive silent hill series. It's probably 12 hours in total, well research and shot documentary style. It details reveiws of every game and also why the HD release and the changes made were horrible. It also goes in depth on lore and what everything means in the games and the movies.

It's truly genius and if you are a fan of the series...or at least the first 3-4 games you will love every second of it.

Twin Perfect gives too much misinformation though.

TwinPerfect spews misinformation and nonsense. They're widely reviled throughout the fan base with good reason.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.

It's already been stated, but Twin Perfect gets as much wrong about the series as they get right. Avoid them at all costs.

Then they outperformed Avary.

Their videos are just as bad, if not worse than Avary's dialogue.

The reason why no video game movie has succeeded (Warcraft still in the debated stage) is because nobody really knows what they want from a video game movie.

You've already played the games. So... Do you want the movie to BE the video games? And if so, WHY???

I mean, why would you pay money to go watch a movie that tells the exact same story about the game you already played? Wouldn't it make more sense to watch a movie ABOUT Silent Hill, that captured the spirit of the games and told an ORIGINAL story?

This is precisely why I like to reference TOMB RAIDER. Angelina Jolie does TOMB RAIDER, and people who like movies generally don't care for it. It's okay, but overall it's just stale popcorn. A wimpy, un-threatening villain, a choppy story, and a point where stone comes to life to remind everyone this is based on a video game.

TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE, however, abandoned all that silly *beep* and tried to make an original movie based on the concept of the game. I loved it.

Nobody else did.

So, to recap: TOMB RAIDER 1 is too much like a video game to be a good movie, and TOMB RAIDER 2 is not enough like the video game for anyone to see it AS a good movie.

I liked this movie, because it tried to be more than just a recap of SILENT HILL 3. Granted, it's not perfect. But the mannequin scene was awesome, and I thought the director at least had an idea of what Silent Hill was supposed to be, even if the movie wasn't the best.

Honestly, though? I liked it better than the first movie. She carried NO WEAPONS the entire movie!! For crying out loud, even in the video games you're given basic weapons!! Who the hell would wander through Silent Hill without grabbing a two-by-four, at least??

While I've never played the games, the Resident Evil series begs to differ with your argument. It has done immensely well, at least box-office wise, and has had numerous sequels.

I’ve seen honest faces before. They’re usually attached to liars.
