Sharon/Alessa/Dark Alessa

The ending of the first movie, Dark Alessa (the demon) and Sharon formed as one and became Alessa. However, the beginning of the second movie, she's Sharon again. Was it ever explained how she became Sharon in the second film?

Also the first movie, Dark Alessa wants her back in Silent Hill alive, but in the second movie, Dark Alessa wants Sharon dead.

It's implied the Seal of Megatron split them, and can unify them as the plot requires.

It's a retcon. The writer/director of Revelation was not involved in the first film, nor did he seem to like it much, and so the whole thing is full of continuity changes. Just think of the films as belonging to two different canons.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.
