I am also in the camp of feeling mesmerized at the end of this movie at the incredible performance Mr. Sizemore gave in this film. I am left feeling very haunted, and I thought it was adequately paced enough so as to not leave me bored or listless.
Like any film, a lot of the perception can be derived from the mood you are in: This is a serious film, although not morbid, and as such, you do really need to be in the right mood in order for it to be fully appreciated. It requires you to be in an awake mood, so if you've had a long day at the office, or feel stressed or tired, you might not enjoy it.
I know I will be remembering this film for quite awhile, and I can compare the deep thoughts it left me with to those I likewise felt after the first viewing (and many subsequent viewings) of "Glengarry Glen Ross": Is life really so hopeless, or do we sometimes make it out to be worse than it actually is.
On another note, there are a lot of mysterious things that occur, that are not explained, and perhaps that's fine, as the lack of explanation isn't required, but does make one wonder what some of those people and events signify (a kudos as well for an excellent script).
