Ma'Dear
I thought Ma'dear was a term used in regard to grandmothers. And primarily in the south. I found it weird for them to be calling their mother that and they're in Cali.

shareI was wondering about this as well, I didn't even know what it meant.
"You think you know who you are? You have no idea."
The little boys in the movie "Antwone Fisher" called their foster mother that also, even though the old witch was as abusive as hell.
"I'd be very happy to be myself if I could remember who I am. Who am I?"
Maybe they meant to say, Madeira -- which is a tasty libation from EspaƱa.
On second thought...

Sorry, but normally Ma'dear is short term for Mother Dear. Children normally come up with their own names for Grandmothers or they use the term that they are taught.
