She also wasn't in the final family portrait. Why? I think that is pretty racist.

I would have loved to see her dance. Is the hokey-pokey still en vogue?

I did notice -- I had the same thought, seemed a tad bit racist, and contrary, given that the theme with respect to her was that she was so quickly and warmly welcomed into the family.

Missing its own message, I guess.

I never noticed that. That's kinda odd!

I actually came to this board solely to see if anyone else noticed that. My friend got this movie on Netflix awhile back and we were sort of shocked that the white character was not in the dance sequence at the end. We just found it so strange... apparently it was played off as just a random event that happened on set one day, and she happened to not be around. But really? I mean, if the ONLY CHARACTER who happens to not be on set that day is the ONLY WHITE GIRL in the cast, it just looks shady....

I mean, I love soulful, heartwarming movies with a primarily African-American cast, I think they're very entertaining. But to shut out the only white character at the end of the movie... it's like, why even bother with that plot point at all then? It mildly offended me.

Did anyone think that maybe she didn't want to do it? That could easily have been why.

Mo was not their either and there is no mistake in that he's black. So how do you explain that?
