Anybody else find this incredibly dull?

I barely got through it, I have never seen a movie with so many one noted characters, I couldn't care less about that tried to pass itself off as some heart warming holiday movie. It was anti climatic, I got sick of the mini music scenes in the movie(Chris Brown singing Try a little Tenderness, for what seemed like Three hours)and I left the movie knowing nothing more about the characters, then when I started the movie.

I wouldn't even recommend this for a leisure movie.

The problem with the other posts in this thread is that they are written by people who have no appreciation for anyone else's talent. I felt the movie was good, and while it didn't attain blockbuster status at the box office, it did take in almost $50 million during its run. So obviously there were other people besides me who liked the movie. This board was not created so that "haters" could converge upon it like vultures and leave their droppings and stink it up. Please keep this in mind when posting so that those of us who did enjoy the movie can enjoy posting here.

This board was created so people with different opinions can express them! If The haters bother you so much then maybe you should relocate. I will speak my mind and I refuse to tap dance around anybody.

So will I!! NO ONE tells me to relocate. I was actually posting here last year...after seeing the movie twice in theatres.

Look you little.....You are the one that started this, you are the one that had a problem with my post. who the *uk are you to insinuate that the "haters" have no right to posts here? Don't bring no Bullshyte to me because I will give it back ten fold.

Hey, cool down, Jefster and LaWanda...it's the Christmas season, a time of peace and love. LOL

Anyway, I didn't have any problem with the OP althugh I disagree. I didn't find it dull, nor did any of the eight who watched it with me on the apartment complex's movie night. But different people have different perspectives and LaWanda's post wasn't offensive, leastwise not to me. It was much more civil than many of the posts that appeared last year.

LoL! Frosty! I just hate when people try to censor other people, when they try to dictate what a person can say. I don't have a problem with anybody loving the movie, that is their opinion and perogative. I just feel if anybody has a problem with opinions different from their own, then the internet is not the place for you. simple as that.

Yep, LaWanda, I agree that this board should be open to both positive and negative opinions.

I won't speak for Jefster, but this board was downright ugly last year with racist threads and unwarranted bashing using foul language and without intelligent justification for negative viewpoints. And maybe many who defended the film last year are a bit overly sensitive to criticism this year.

However, your post wasn't like most of last year's negative posts. You simply didn't enjoy it and you expressed just what you didn't like without insult or name calling. So I myself could argue with your opinion, but certainly not with your right to express it. I don't even consider you a hater because your post didn't come across (to me) that way.

And while I do think last year's bashers went well over the line, I'd find this board duller than you thought the movie was if all I could say to every post was "I agree". LOL

"Horrible movie"? I wouldn't have been surprised to see such a comment last year when ugly commets were being made, but now that everyone has the cha nced to see it a 2nd time and as the movie really is, I can understand a person not liking it, but I don't see how anyone who has carefully watched it could call it "horrible".

I didn't care for the movie all that much at first, but I liked it more when I just saw it for the second time. I think the theater I was in and the fan girls screaming over Chris Brown helped me not to enjoy it. I mean, it's a good wholesome family movie. It's not The Cookout or anything like that, with a whole bunch of ignorant comedic pieces. It's about a family that's having their first Christmas all together after 4 years. I don't think it's suppose to be very in your face, where's the climax, type of movie. Just the type of movie you watch around the holiday's with family while you're chilling and drinking egg nog.

reply

Yes, this movie goes very well with egg nog.

Didn't go in with high expectations, so I wasn't disaapointed.
Sometimes we make the most simplistic movies, that we perpetuate the stereotypes.
The "MaDere" thing was forced and missplaced. How 'bout just "Mama"? Isn't "MaDere" more for grandmothers? Or because of Tyler Perry, we all call our Mothers "MaDere".
Chris Brown's acting and characcter were unneccessary.
You have the estranged, black sheep son berating another son with, "We're Whitfields!", as though he's the pillar of the family.
You have a supposed IVY League graduate, stuck up daughter, who sleeps with a guy on the first night.
Devon's pre-law at a school that doesn't offer that as a major.
That's just a few of the things that made this film poor.
You would have thought a white person wrote this movie.
We shouldn't ever complain about equality in the area of cinematic acclaim, when we continue to make simple movies like this one.

Yes, the movie was really trying to be this great holiday movie and it wasnt,, too many people in the film and not enough story,, boring for the most part,, and yes it was poorly written. Only had a funny line or two, that was it. Got bored with Chris Brown's singing,,..movie was very weak, really disappointing.

reply

OK....SO now what? Why did you bother, if you 'barely got through it'?

You probably couldn't recommend a cartoon to a child!

"OOO...I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

reply

LMAO a boring flick about collard greens. I spit up my cereal everywhere.
