I read in the game informer magazine I think thats what i was. that the eyes who did the japanese movie "The Eye" is going to direct The Darkness. Cant wait!

i was just thinking "i wonder how long the movie version comes out" but do you reckon it'd be the game or the comic's storyline? jackie estacado is very different character in each of them, i've not read all the comics so i dont have a definitive idea of the comic version but he does seem somewhat harder to like.
as for an actor to play him? tough choice, no one comes to mind at the minute..

If they make a movie of The Darkness, it should follow the game more than the comics. As awesome as the comics were, Jackie was a bit of an ass hole a lot of the time, and it did have way too many bad guys at the same time (As most comics do) Whereas in the game, you had three bad guys. Shrote, Paulie and The Darkness. That, and if it's made by a good director, you could get everything in the game in. I would like to see Christopher Walken as Jimmy The Grape, James Woods as Shrote and ol' Patton as The Darkness. as for Jackie...I can see Christian Bale doing it pretty well.

The comic Jackie was way better. Just the growth you see him go through, that's what I hope they portray in the movie.

Barry Pepper would be a perfect fit for Jackie, I also agree with the first post that if Jackie was older Michael Wincott would be perfect, just look at him in The Crow. I think also William Forsythe would be the perfect Butcher.
shareIf they are turning it into a movie, I hope they use the game as a basis for it. Never in my life have I played a game that felt more like a movie. Even the pacing from dialog scenes to action scenes felt like a movie. At times, I even forgot I had a controller in my hand and felt like I was just watching a movie shot entirely in the first person perspective.

(Unless he's could play Ian Nottingham in the Witchblade Movies. He'd be great for either rose, and the two characters are even supposed to look just like each other.) Anyways... yeah, he'd be great. Eric Etebari made a great Nottingham in the Witchblade series, so it might be ironically cool to play Jackie. That also means he's worked with the producers, he's known to fans, and he knows the material.

Nah, in my opinion theres only one guy that could play butcher and that's Brendan Gleeson...he looks JUST like the butcher from the comics.
The person who should play jackie is the guy who does the voice for him in the game. Nicky from the show The Black Donnellys would be perfect if he got the long black hair. Look at his imdb page, he'd be perfect and that voice fits jackie in my opinion. I read the comics and kind of expected what the game offered, which was pretty satisfying.

Knowing who the directors are lined up for this movie has made me lose all sense of hope for this film even being half-decent.

They probably won't get it and make it some cheap send up version of The Crow.It'll be all CGI-ness and no emphasis on character or story, which is the whole point of the story.
Plus they'll probably make another boo-boo and tell the whole Great War Estacado ancestor story into some short 2 minute montage...

shareWell, no you can't say definitively that he does "not" have the skill. That would be the point at which one could judge his skill, if he has any at "acting". I'll bet he could pull it off, if anyones seen any movies in the last 30 years, it's obvious that it don't take much to be an actor!!!

I think the guy who plays Jackie in the game loks like him in real life, he just has to grow hair is all. I think he would be great in the film. Also Mike Patton should be back. I think so anyway.
