Nearly all main characters in games/movies/tv shows who are 'young' in age nearly always act older than they are.
Probably doesnt help though that Kirks raspy voice sounds rather old when you compare it to Jackie who is meant to be 21.
He must be under the effect of Lorne— and Eve, too, presum— presumally.
I suppose Jackie's line of work made him mature quickly.
