Shohreh Aghdashloo's Emmy was well-deserved!

What a mindblowing performance. She gets better and better as the series progresses. The scenes where she dies her hair blonde after Saddam has an affair with a blonde woman are heartbreaking. The look on her face after she says "do you like it?" and he says "No. You look cheap" almost made me cry. And the part at the end when she is watching her children on television and simply whispers "why?" and breaks down. It's such a sublime performance. The highlight of this series for me.

Thoughts on her performance?

I thought she was great, the woman is totally captivating and I love her work and how she is trying to encourage the Farsi culture (understanding of) and Farsi literature, which is some of the best in the world. I think she really made Uday and Qusay's mother real. As a mother, I remember holding my baby and watching her grow and now she is 17. A mother's love never goes away, regardless of what your children do and I felt so sad for Mrs. Hussein because I could feel her pain. That really got to me and I am glad she is getting recognized as her ability to act. Not to mention, she is a gorgeous woman, very distinct and I love her husky voice.

I never agreed with dragging her son's bodies through the street. It is not that I am saying they didn't deserve it, but I felt that respect should have been given to their mother. She did not do anything, except be his wife and he was a fool for choosing another wife.
