My thoughts on the show

So I finished watching this last night. It was good in terms of explaining everyones background, what role they played, etc. A lot of times I thought Saddam was an idiot.

He made so many bad decisions throughout his time as president. I don't know if this was true or an excuse to invade Kuwait, but was Kuwaiti kingdom really stealing oil from Iraq? Also, what was Saddam thinking invading his neighbor - a US ally? Did he not think there would be consequences? The regime made no attempts to prepare themselves. At least not from what I saw from the show.

There lines of communication and logistics looked primitive. His party acts more like a mafia than a traditional gov't or dictatorship (Fascism, Communism, etc). Even North Korea looked like they have a better structure & stronger military. I noticed Saddam liked to use his country as an excuse to justify his point, like whats best for this or that. Following the 2003 invasion by US led coalition. Saddam seemed like he won the war when he said to his party members, "it takes a 30 nation coalition to take on Iraq" or something like that. But the faces of everyone else, you can tell the end is near. There screwed.

Towards the end of the show, when he was hiding out. Why were those 3 guys babysitting Saddam?
