...so you bash one show to praise another?
they are valid reasons to you and only opinions.

i like cartoons. and kid cartoons are cute and funny. so i am looking forward to this.


Yet how is this show different from other children shows ? besides the main character being Asian. . and like i put in another post, PBS had a show called Sagwa, that has characters teaching or explaining certain things in Chinese.

both animations seem to be done in Flash, both are clean and quick to produce. with wide-eyed cute characters. both follow the (see, say, and learn) scenario. i dont see one better than the other.

i guess that is just me.

I think this shows an awesome idea to. Especially with the Chinese population increasing here in the united states. Personally learning spanish is so passe nowadays and I think kids should be able to expand their horizons and learn many different languages in my opinion.

I have liked Dora for a very long time and I have lots of Dora stuff--like a Dora bed and dolls and everything. But ever since I saw Nee-hao Kailan, I'm starting to like it more. I watch it whenever I'm not stuck in school. Dora says the same things too many times. And Kailan is cuter and her friends are cuter too. Also, Chinese is cool as well.

I don't agree that it's better than Dora (though it is much quieter thank goodness). I like the fact that it's teaching Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin?), esp. considering every one in five people on the entire planet is Chinese. I just appreciate that Nickelodeon is branching out w/its programming to include other cultures besides the typical hispanic and non-hispanic American audiences (as if those are the only two cultures here). I appreciate the effort to reflect diversity in children's programming (though Sesame Street has been carrying this torch for DECADES). I'm upset that Little Bill is off air (though they've brought it back in syndication on Noggin). Sagwa is also still shown on the PBS Sprout channel. My 2-yr old loves all of these shows. Now if we could just get a show that teaches Japanese and one that teaches French...

much better then dora!!! I never liked dora..... I love this show, and I love the asian culture..... for awhile it seemed like they were forcing our children to learn spanish with dora on twice a day then diego on twice a day!!! We know enough about the spanish culture, it's time to learn something new....Good job nick jr!!!!!

Yeah I definitely like Ni Hao Kai-Lan much much more than Dora or Diego. Any kid anywhere can learn Spanish, god we're having the language shoved down our throats here in America. But it's a nice change of pace to have a show to learn Chinese instead.
Maybe it's cause I'm into the whole Asian-cultures thing, thus I have more of an interest in all things Asian rather than Mexican.
I hope maybe one day they will have another show like this but for Japanese. That would be awesome!

Dora, Deago, Handy Mandy...and then half the other shows will bring in a spanish charater and then and teh BAM another show to teach kids spanish
