Ending

I am not sure that I understand the ending. After she smashed the music box, she finds her husband and daughter alive. She realizes nothing changed, she still had neglected her daughter when she needed something. Then she gets in the car with them, but I don't think she suggests an alternate route. So, is she planning to get into the accident with them?

reply

Interesting observation. Something we will never know but perhaps the delay in making the changes and her getting into the car would be enough to avoid the accident.

Thanks, but I saw the movie again. After that scene, they showed the three of them playng in a yard. So you are probably right, she might have delayed them (perhaps when she told them to wait and then got into the car) just enough so they missed the accident.

That is really cool! Even though her part was small, I thought she was really good in it. Plese tell her good luck with her career!

I missed the first two or three minutes of the film, so maybe the answer to my question is there, but I didn't understand why at the end of the film, when the three of them are in the car, she throws her mobile phone through the window. Can anyone explain that please? Thank you.

reply

Her mobile phone and her business had become more important to her than her family. She could set them aside and hav them wait while she attended to business, but she would not set business aside for them. That was evident in how she forgot all about getting the snacks for her daughter's game because she was so wrapped up in business.

After losing them, apparantly she realized that she could not assume they would always be there.

My thinking is either she got her priorities right - her family, especially her child, should come before her career. Or that she knew they would get into the accident, and either suggested another route, or got into the accident with them.

So you mean the phone symbolised her career. As she threw the phone, she was showing how she changed her priorities. That really makes a lot of sense, and I hadn't thought about it. Thank you.

That's just my guess at it. I am sure that others might have different interpretations of it. Your welcome.

reply

Well, if other interpretations come up, we'll consider them, but so far, yours seems to be right.

The ending did not fit the film at all! I couldn't wait for the shocking finale. Too bad when it came it wasn't shocking at all it was just lame.

I'm glad Obama won, but I will not jump on the Pro-Choice bandwagon
