Think before you post/vote!
Yes, I'm part of this production. And proud to be. Yes, I am passionately involved in the film industry - indie and otherwise. Nonetheless...
I have some friends who were recently privy to a conversation in Orlando where several people boasted of, purposefully, writing scathing reviews of this film and trying to pull the "user vote" status down as far as possible. What a reckless, irresponsible, not mention thoughtless, act.
If these people are, indeed, part of the industry; as they claimed to be, they clearly don't get it.
Success leads to success. For everyone involved - industry wide. Simple.
If you truly disliked the film, that's cool. No film appeals to everyone.
But, if you participate in some sort of game or scam to discredit a film and its makers as some sort of revenge or act of jealousy, you're hurting everyone including yourself.
The objective is to attract other filmmakers to the region. Let them know that quality exists in your area and that good films come from your neighborhood. At a time when the indies are dying a quick and painful death, we all need to be more conscious of our objectives, motives and actions. Don't lie, but don't wage a battle in your own backyard, either.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to work in the industry since 1984, first in theatre and corporate entertainment before finding opportunities to work with filmmakers. I am certainly a work in progress, but I'm truly grateful for the work and the trust those filmmakers have placed on me. Therefore, I think it is critical to nurture and grow the industry whenever and wherever possible.
Regardless of your feelings, I appreciate your watching and participating in the life of "Second Coming" and I hope you'll continue to support Indie Film.
Best,
Greg Thompson
