So apparently Neil doesn't matter.

Anyone else find it a little odd how the movie ends on such a happy note even though Neil got killed, and none of the other characters bother wondering where he is?

reply

I saw it last night and I feel the same way.

reply

exactly, I was like, well gee Brody just got eaten......lets make out....anyone seen Neil....no??? oh well lets go home.....enjoyed it up until then.

reply

At least when Brody got turned into a monster buffet, there was an acknowledgement of it. There was the girl weeping, and then the rescue party came along and noticed.

"Hey, isn't that what used to be Brody?"
"Bummer. Oh well, moving on....."

But poor Neil, who was part of the rescue party and left to fight the child monsters by himself, doesn't even get that.

reply

It's okay, he's in the white lodge now.

Apparently Neil doesn't matter - at all. Everyone got loved up at the end and forgot about old Neil until halfway home in the power boat and decided, why take a chance risking any more babies killing some of us off when Neil was just hamburger by that point. Although I did hear that when they opened a celebratory bottle of Wild Turkey *they couldn't afford Makers Mark etc...*, they did pour a small cap-full on the ground for their 'wild n crazy homey Neil.'

They have acknowledged Neil's death early on, so they could keep the happy ending. Not sure why they didn't even mention it when they show his corpse.
