Based on a TRUE story?

I'm tired of all these movies that say they are based on a true story, but then you don't ever hear the actual story. Or the characters are so vague or extreme you can never figure out who they were. Then at the end of the credits they put the disclaimer that none of it is true blah blah living or dead.

So either someone needs to up and say what this story is really based on or they need to call just a bunch of stories they might have heard over the years and put it under the premise of a round the world trip.

Nothing in hollywood is true even stories based on true stories are so convoluted and taken out of context that you wouldn't even recognize the true story anyway.

I take it you were one of those people who thought the Blair Witch Project was real. Movies based on true stories always have some embellishments - it's called created licensing. Even documentaries are skewed to portray what they want you to believe.

aehhmm.. that's a must on every movie, they don't have a choice - it's in every movies' credits. And it's more like "when we by chance did use a fictional name, that actually is a real persons name (could be me or you), then we didn't mean, that the fictional person in the movie is meant to be YOU". The disclaimer in the end doesn't mean that the movie not is not based on a true story. It can still be so, even if names and places are changed.
