Should jack and sam get together in the next movie??

Thoughts anyone??

reply

I dunno, I think the heat has cooled. At the end of Ark of Truth, the kiss-on-the-cheek scene was just about the closest Sam has ever come to being flirtatious (while in her right mind, anyway), and that was with Cam. I think Colonel Jack's been superseded. (And time is relentless: these days Jack actually looks old enough to be Sam's father -- RDA's age is catching up with him fast -- so I'm guessing they're not gonna go there with Jack and Sam again.)

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

You never know I read somewhere that apparently Brad Wright is writing a so called "romantic" scene for the next movie although between whom is anyone's guess but since the movie will be jack centric everyones assuming that it will be between jack and sam.
And dont dis RDA's age I just hope I look that good in his age.

I hope there's hinting, which the franchise does so well, but I don't think they should get together

Nah, I rather like stuff just being implied. I read somewhere that one of the producers felt that it was only natural that they should end up together but it is not canon. I'm gonna go with that and though I've always loved the idea of Jack and Sam, I too have not really felt a great deal of chemistry between them... especially compared to other couplings like my favorites, Mulder and Scully, and the totally under-rated Operations and Madeline (La Femme Nikita), who had some of the most amazing chemistry onscreen, I think!

I think Amanda and Ben have chemistry, but a great friendship, almost sibling chemistry. A lot of the time when I'm watching Carter and Mitchell interact, I think they're twins separated at birth or something... nevermind that their nicknames rhyme.

I don't think it's necessary. Besides I think it's been stated dozens of times by the producers that it would be a violation of Air Force regs.

reply

The fact that it would be a violation of Air Force regs is kind of the whole point. although I agree, it's not necessary

It would be a violation of the regulations while they were in the same chain of command, they're not any more.

Sam said in SG-A that there was someone back home (Jack) and that it was complicated.. he was in Washington. I want them to get married, and happily ever after. Jack spoke fondly of Sam in SGU and dang it I want it. One of the reasons he took the other job was so they wouldn't be in the same command.

I however shiver and shake in fear that it will end up being Daniel and vahla. ewww

reply

Nope, there is a huge part of me that sees him reuniting with his ex-wife. For me, Sam and Jack never had any romantic chemistry.

If it did happen both would have to retire for the relationship to work. In the real world if Sam stayed in any promotion she received while under Jack's command would be suspect; a reward to his lover instead of an earned promotion. As a Colonel looking at becoming a General she would not be able to maintain the respect and loyality she needs to command with that hanging over her head. At this point I don't see Sam going anywhere. She has the Hammond and could eventually command the fleet.

I always thought she should have stayed with Pete and Jack needed to go back to his ex-wife.

Yeah the cut scene in SGA definitely implied Jack, as did the fact that Sam left the SGC in early S9 for personal reasons. As for regulations, well they aren't in direct chain of command any more so it wouldn't be a IRL problem and since all of SG1 past and present have proven over and over again that they all love each other and make discisions based on that all the time, regulations are pretty worthless for all of them at this point. I'm not a rabid shipper but I do think it would be nice to know that over a decade of feelings paid off for them. That end scene in Ark of Truth was a bit weird for Sam/Cam. I could have certainly brought it as flirting if there had been anything in the preceeding two seasons that hinted at it, which there wasn't really, nor in Continuum. I'm not exacactly sure why they'd bother with Sam/cam at this point for the next fiml. Hell if something like that was going to come out of the left field I'd prefer Martouf to come back from the dead for no reason to hook up with her.

At this point I don't see them setting up an ex wife reunion, they've barely mentioned her at all since S1.

This is all supposing that the movie ever gets off the ground, which seems to be less than likely at this point.

I am not sure about the movie but their have been developments such as a name and a final script. There have been hints that there will be a romantic scene in the movie and if you believe that Jack and Sam are together that's fine too.

There is also the Teal'c issue. At the end of "Unending" Teal'c hinted that something happened between him and Sam in the same way Jack had at the end of "Window of Opportunity". There is a small but often time quiet group that would like to see them together. I am not one of them but hey.

Sam/Cam would be odd, especially if the silliness about Cam being Jack's son noted in "200" turns out to be true. I don't see the chemistry there either.

For me Jack/Sam as part of cannon would mean I probably would have to walk away from SG-1 for any future projects. I don't see the chemistry. I know, I know I am evil and should die a slow horrible death, buit I just don't see it. Besides in the real world even if she and Jack are no longer in the direct chain of command her promotions from Captain to Colonel would all be suspect and those under any future command of hers may see her as having slept her way to the top.

I am not sure who should be with who. I don't think Sara is completely out of Jack's life nor has he stopped loving her so it is still a possiblity and it would be a little more original that the CSI/Moonlighting/every other show on tv that hooks up the lead male and female. Happily ever after is usually the death knell for any show/movie. I would hate to see this arm of the franchise dry up because Jack and Sam's marriage killed it.

Ten years or so ago there was some connection and things might have happened. But not now. A few reasons:

1. Assuming there is the same 15 year gap between O'Neil/Anderson (born 1950) and Carter/Tapping (born 1965) then Carter still has many more years of service and promotion.

2. Carter does not come across as the kind who would ever give up her career. She has constant drive. O'Neil has been cruising to retirement for years.

3. Carter and the originial O'Neil (first few episodes) might have had something in common. O'Neil was shown to have some inate intelligence. He had a telescope and had some astronomoical knowledge. But even before the first season ended and certainly by around season 4 - the writers and likely Anderson himself had turned O'Neil into a bit of a joke who's sole reason to be in an episode was to crack one-liners. "Who's Your daddy..." In fact O'Neil became the foil in the episode to whom scientific, political or any other complicated ideas had to be explained in simplistic language (really for the TV audience). I just can't see Carter living with this all her life. "Jack, this is how you operate the remote..." "Jack, it's not complicated, the dry items go in first, not the wet ones..."

4. Someone said they thought Anderson wasn't aging well and now looks like he could be Tapping's father. But someone else said they wished they looked as good as Anderson at his age. Well unless he was a very early teenage father, he's just barely old enough to be Tapping's father but I agree with the writer who says he is starting to look his age. Which is unfortunate as he shouldn't be. He's gaining weight and is starting to look unhealthy. That makes him look older than he should. In this movie Tapping also has extra weight too but hers does not look unhealthy and has since lost it. I'm not saying that is enough reason for them to be apart but again hard to picture a healthy, physically and mentally active Carter wanting to go to fishing cabin with an increasing overweight, laid-back O'Neill who just wants to fish and drink beer.

reply

Yes. Jack and Sam should get together in the next movie.

Doctor, doctor, give me the news...

reply

Hmmm are't they already togheter. If I remeber correctly, Sam says it in Atlantis when she is in a cave with another girl. Don't remeber who it was.

reply

If the next movie is Jack-centric, then yeah. They should.

They've had opportunities (mostly Sam) to get together with other people throughout the series, in some cases (Pete Shanahan) actually came close, but it never worked out because the Jack/Sam thing was so enduring that it prevented the other relationships from working out. Yeah, for my money, they should end up together. (Though perhaps oddly, I can't see them married, just "together").

As for chain of command? There's plenty of ways they could get around that. Sam could be promoted to a place where she wouldn't be under Jack's command, Jack could be assigned somewhere else where he doesn't have her under his command... Maybe the movie could even end with him retiring, and them finally being able to openly get together.

There's a plan in everything, kid. And I love it when a plan comes together!

reply

Dear god, I hope not! I would rather see each of them with ANYONE other then with each other! And personally, I really enjoy Daniel and Vala.

Is there still going to be a next movie???

No, that project was killed a long time ago together with the Atlantis movie.
Both movies has also been deleted from IMDB.
