sam and cams potential love affair ( why its never been materialized)

I think the producers didnt want to alienate the fans but I still think its a pity the way I see it would have been better if oneill and her started something in seson 5 that lasted 3 or 4 seasons to later break up as "friends" which would explain his willingness to leave SG-1 behind and later she could start something with cameron that could lead to marriage.

Jack left the SGC so he COULD be with Sam. It is against regulations for military personal to be in a relationship with someone who is their direct superior/subordinate. It leads to messy situations when you have to send your lover to their death.

Or jail. The rules are in place more to assure professionalism and attempt to eliminate favoritism since a large percentage of the military is not directly involved in life or death combat. Although in the world of the SGC I imagine it would be more likely that you might have to send a lover to die.

Duncan MacLeod: You're an a--hole.
Methos: I never said I was deep.

No, they don't send you to jail. They simply transfer one of the two elsewhere, usually the lower ranking spouse, to remove the conflict of interest.

Which makes it a bit odd that that plot line was never pursued. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it was ever mentioned or indicated again.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Sam does mention in SGA that she's involved with someone in Washington and that it's complicated. Jack is stationed in Washington. Also, in Continuum, after they gate aboard the Achilles, it's obvious that Sam is in shock about Jack's death. Cam says something trying to snap her out of it, and his tone of voice implies that there is a deep connection between Sam and Jack, which could be interpreted as a romantic relationship.

Doesn't necessarily point to Jack, though.

It was a theme of Sam's character throughout the entire ten years that she always deflected any guy's interest. The exception was Pete, of course, and even then she couldn't be with him because she wanted to be with Jack, yet never made that happen.

Given that Jack was the one true love of her SG-1 life, then it makes sense she would be shocked at his death, even if they weren't an item.
