Who Are The Hendersons?

I know the ship's captain was Mitchel's grandfather and his name was also Mitchel as General Landry stated this. When Mitchel went to the farm, he was told it was the Henderson's who lived there and envisioned a photo of his grandfather on the mantel. So, who were the Hendersons?

Previous owners of the Mitchell farm, still lived in area and friendly with Mitchell family.

Or they could be his maternal grandparents. Or Grandma remarried.

I also thought it was odd that there is a 'Hendersons' sign hanging outside Cam's house when the neighbor chick comes over to flirt with him.
