The musical score deserves a better movie....

The fun and campy stage production does not a good make. They needed to change things from the stage version to the screen version. For example, The songs could be re-imagined as skits taking place in gay enclaves like Chelsea and West Hollywood. I could almost see the "Window to Window" in Manhattan and "Muscle Addiction" in WeHo.

That way, the movie could actually say something about contemporary life and the musical score could have some depth...and maybe even funnier.

What a shame the producers and distributors chose the easy, lazy way. Haven't "Gay" movies progressed beyond this?

This was not a 'Movie Version' of the stage play, the actual live stage play was filmed and that is what you are seeing on video.

I stand corrected. But my central points are still valid.

I realize that it's a taping of a play and I know the limitations thereof, but the camerawork in this movie was really bad. There were far too many effects which made it look cheesy and like someone had just gotten a brand new editing toy.

Yeah, I just watched it a few times, and the effects used felt quite amateurish, especially during the opening credits. Perhaps that was intentional because the show is campy, you know--but at the same time, I was HIGHLY impressed with it. The show was a delight from start to finish. Those ten brave guys were exceedingly talented singers and dancers (all easy on the eyes, too--a couple of them were particularly attractive to me...although I'm a girl, so it'd probably be hopeless anyway, lol.) The song-skits themselves were a LOT better than I'd even anticipated! They were brilliant!! And mostly hilarious. My favorite numbers are "The Naked Maid," "Nothing But the Radio On," "Window to Window," and "Perky Little Porn Star."

I'm still singing all the songs, haha. Great show; I'm so glad they recorded it for posterity. xD
