so after seeing the previews for this show it stunned me at how ridiculously stupid it looked. i was awestruck at what these people thought was funny. so, i decided to force myself to watch the pilot to prove myself right. ohh man was i right... i could only maintain my sanity for about 10 minutes into the show.

the first impression is the casts' acting skills (or lack there of)... my god, 2nd to none. as the show continues they try to slip in a few cracks here and there (actually way to many). 90% of these "jokes" are just plain awful, and the other 10% might have had an effect on me, that is, if i hadnt heard them numerous times before on other shows.
this bill engvall crap tosses in these random, unrealistic, completely irrelevant situations that they think is funny (they thought wrong).

so, as the subject says, one really does have the IQ of a canteen to really find this kind of humor funny.

the upside is that this show will make for a nice race to cancellation against house of payne.

I agree.. I think TV needs this kind of old-school family sitcom back. I think it's great.

Unintelligent is an apt description of you but the show is for viewers enjoying quality programming which is why people watch ..

OP, if you're gonna start a thread bashing something as unintelligent, why would you use such sh*tty writing ? Generally, sentences start with a capital letter.

Aww, good for you trojanbaseball! No one cares. Though I am a little concerned you would come here just to bash a freaking sitcom. And I'm sure you're VERY intelligent and all, but I should probably inform you that... they don't actually make SITCOMS to reach intellectually stimulating levels... it's more of a laugh factor hun. Yeah...
BUT do NOT worry, they have plenty of shows for people with sticks up their asses :) See? Something for everyone!

By the way, for someone who appritiates intelligence so, you really should learn something about acting... at least before you try to comment on it.

And after seeing the childish posts trashing the show it really shows how unintelligent the antis/trolls posters are ..
I think it is sad that these people have no life but to come here and trash the show and then get in an uproar when people disagree and then try to spin it and say those who defend the show are the ones wrong and stupid ..

Don't bash me please...(lol)...but I have to agree with the OP. My sister forced me to watch this because she likes the Blue Collar Comedy or whatever it's called..We sat through the show in silence.

Flash forward a week later...

Me: Hey, isn't your Bill Engvall show on tonight?
Her: Don't remind me...

you see Awesomeangel, here's the problem with your logic. This is a forum, not a fan site. It is meant for discussion, both positive and negative. If you want to talk to people who all enjoy the show, then you should try and find a fan site (note - I say try).

As this is imdb, and is meant to discuss movies and TV, you're going to get quite a few people who watch quite a bit of movies/TV, often work in the industry, and many of which have studied it. Many of these people will watch the show, and give it a fair try, to see what it is like. At which point, naturally, they will want to discuss it, both good points (if any) and bad points, hopefully, with people who also are fairly knowledgeable on the subject.

So, if you're coming here to find a bunch of people praising the show, as I say, go elsewhere. It seems that the majority of people here have decided that they find the brand of comedy in this show aimed at an audience with fairly low intelligence, and find it generally not very entertaining. It's a valid opinion. You may disagree, but that's your opinion. Live with it.

The show won't last. It's just not very good. I watched about half an episode, and it was painfully boring, very unoriginal, and poorly written.

You're not getting it. If they have no life because they're coming here to bash the show, then you have no life because you come here to defend it. This is a FORUM. Do you understand? it is for positive AND negative viewpoints. negative discussion or points about a show are fully valid. Every bit as valid as positive viewpoints.

And yes, if the majority of posters bash the show, it generally is a pretty good indication that the show is not very good. Go look at a show that is generally regarded as good, and you won't find nearly as many people bashing the show. Try it. I guarantee, I'm right.

no, nothing will reflect all viewers. there is no medium that will reflect every viewers thoughts. but keep in mind, the annoying whiny brats - you are a part of them.

Yeah. And I also wouldn't be surprised if this show isn't even renewed for a second season. No offense but I guess those "blue collar" people should NOT make their own shows. lmao.

Second season? I'll be surprised if it makes it through the first season. But given that it's TBS, not THAT surprised.

I'm sorry, "Here's your sign?" Does that really even make sense at all? Maybe you like Bill Engvall's stand up routine. That's fine. Just please don't tell me you honestly think this show is funny. Someone commented on how the jokes don't need to be intelligent to be funny. I hate to break it to you guys but some people actually need jokes with more substance. Maybe I'm wrong? I'm not a troll, I just came on here to see if finally everyone could agree on something being horrible. I guess there are fans for everything. Seriously, tho, "Here's your sign?" That's comedy? OK. I salute you. Have fun with that.

Let's be honest everyone--the sitcom is dying, if not dead. Other than The Office, I could absolutely care less about scripted comedy. I've watched The Bill Engvall Show and don't think it's terrible but it's not great television either. My problem with TrojanBaseball's comment is the fact that s/he has but him/herself on such a high pedestal of "intelligence," s/he can't see the ground. If you don't like it, don't watch it, but what's the point of starting a thread just to bash it? Plus, you watched the show after seeing the previews, already expecting to hate it.

According to reports, The Bill Engvall Show has averaged 2.7 million viewers per week. That is well above TBS' 1.2 million average for other shows. It ranks as TBS' second highest rated sitcom. Apparently TBS decided to listen to the 2.7 million weekly viewers instead of the dozen "haters" on this Board, announcing that there will be a Second Season . . . personally, I'm glad that they did!

Can't wait until next Season!

Ignore the trolls/antis tricoaster .. The real fans know the show is good and are happy about its renewal and I expected it and was never worried since I always thought TBS would renew it ..

Allow me an "unintelligent" response. It's a SITCOM. It's not supposed to hold some deep, introspective meaning. Loosen up, dude. If you're looking for something to spark a debate, try CNN or MSNBC.
