Just finished watching the movie and just wanted to know, did anyone else wish he and Laura got back together before the movie ended? I was cheering for them...but that's probably what the director wanted me to do. Bummer.

Aaaand...the last we see of the bartender lady is her looking deep into Joe's eyes as if some romance was boiling up and simply wasn't shown on screen. Did anyone else get that idea?

I think spending the night in the bartender lady's arms would be consistent with Joe Warr's personality, who appeared (sadly) to be rather impulsive when it came to the ladies. (i.e. getting one pregnant while on a job, moving off without thinking about Harry, etc).

Thoughts?

Laura was a lovely character and of course, a typical romantic movie will end with Joe and Laura together.

The director choose another path. More real life I think. Joe was still fighting the pain and maybe still not ready for starting again.
