Not a True Remake, and a Racist Film!

Where is the relation to the original 1981 film? I finally saw it today, and it has no connection, or any story that refers to the Original R-Rated Film so I would have to consider this a total different film in itself...also furthermore why does every Horror Film with one Minority in it with a Bunch of Whites always have the same Principle? Kill the only Black in the film while the pretty White folk live why can't they give bothe ethnicities an equal chance of survival..that is Hollywood's writers way of showing us that they have no love for us at all, and they are a bunch of Racist sacks of spit that cannot handle the greatness, and achievements of being bested by someone they considered less than nothing for the past 400 Years. I'am glad that a Black Detective Brushed the Killer's sorry ass at the end though he finally got what he deserved, but even if the earlier part never took place, i still found myself almost going to sleep during the film, and changing it to see Mindy Kaling in "the Office" to stay awake. I give this pathetic film a -10. Don't waste ya time on this Crap!

Not only that the director and cast and crew have said over and over again that its not a remake just has the same title

reply

They were paid to say that! It was a remake. If it wasn't, then the title would've been different. Like, The obsession, Killing Spree or even Senior Prom!

reply

No it's not a remake. The 80's movie was about a mystery masked killer hunting down a group of teens who caused the death of a little girl. This one was about an obsessed teacher trying to get the girl he's in loved with. He doesn't wear a mask or carry an ax for that matter. It's all out in the open.

Disagree on the racist part, seeing is mostly white characters die. People seem to ignore that part in these films for some reason.

As for the remake discussion, the cast have said this is not a remake, and it's not in the same way FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009) isn't, but I think it had every intention of cashing in on the Jamie Lee Curtis film and they were probably just afraid the title "PROM NIGHT 5" would hurt its box office chances as main stream audiences are most likely unfamiliar with the previous ones.

Idris Elba is both black and one of the leads as well as the ultimate hero.

reply

Both prom king and prom queen were black. 1 black died, 10 whites. If it's racist (it's not) it's against whites.

only two of the friends live one is donna and the other is ronnie who happens to be black

it's never Joan Van Ark- Marge Simpsons

Disagree on the racist part. Not only are a majority of the victims white, but this one has multiple black characters, some of whom survive. So...

As for the remake stuff, it doesn't really use much of the original, but it didn't get that title for no reason whatsoever and it is about a slasher going on at a prom. That's about it though. I count it as one since they literally choose to identify it as such with the title, but it's kind of in-name only
