Using fire to destroy a horcrux

I was just curious if we know for definite that fire does in fact destory horcruxs.

In Deathly Hallows part 1 Hermione uses insendio on the locket.
However it has no effect.

In part 2 the Diadem ia destroyed in the room of requirement fire.

Can anyone explain?

Regular fire has no effect on horcruxes, or One Rings, or any other powerfully magical object. Chuck the horcrux in your campfire, and you've just got a horcrux that will burn your hand when you pick it up!

The fire that destroyed the diadem was magical "curse fire", either Draco, Crabbe, or Goyle (I forget which) started a magical fire that formed into bizarre shapes and had the power to destroy horcruxes. I presume that Harry and his pals didn't know the spell, or they would have saved themselves a lot of trouble.

It's Fiendfyre. a type of dark magic fire which is very hard to control, and extinguish, even if you know how to. It was started by Crabbe, who knew how to cast it, but didn't know or panicked and forgot how to put it out. Although in the film, Goyle did it. Hermione knew it could be used to destroy a Horcrux, but didn't consider it due to how dangerous it was.

The actor who played Crabbe was not available (he had been convicted of crime. I don't remember the details) so they shifted his role over to Goyle.
