who's your favorite character in the film?......

I thought there were so many great and colorful characters....reminded me a lot of my time in high school...

for me I would have to say its a tie between Kyle, Jules & Coach Keel....

who was your favorite?

I disagree with mulehung. While they were achetypes, they weren't stereotypes.

Three examples..the cheerleader was played innocent, not dumb [which is the cliche and stereotype]. She was actually smart and had a great hero moment [running through the zombies to get to the hearse]. Jules [the science fiction club leader] wasn't a stereotypical nerd with glasses like in 'Revenge Of The Nerds', he really didn't seem to care what people thought of him and would try to be the leader, which isn't a cliche for a nerd. Kyle was my favorite character [and my favorite actor]. His "archetype" was the bully, but he turned out to be one of the more sympathetic characters in the movie.

Of course they are archetypes. That's the point, it's high-school with zombies. I mean, what were you expecting? 'Saw'? Just compare them to the bland characters in 'Prom Night'.

You're the "rick-rolled" comment guy, right? The only time I feel rick-rolled is when I click on a comment you have posted.

re: you're "common knowledge" comment.. Do we really have to go through this again? If you really believe everyone here who likes the film had something to do with it [which is ridiculous], then just read the external reviews:

Did you really just mention "Killer Clowns From Outer Space" as if it has some kind of relevant place in horror movie history? It doesn't. Maybe it does in your history but don't mention it in the same sentence as the other movies you mentioned and in fact, don't mention it with "Dance of the Dead". I'm sorry to hear that you found these characters to be so dull when in fact they are far from it. The characters in this movie are quite colorful and a huge reason this movie is as good as it is. Good day.

let me rephrase....

this thread is for those of you (the literally thousands that turned out for the festival screenings according to the film reviews, and the over 500 that have voted 8 or above on here that actually LIKED the film.

so, who's your favorite character?

I also would have to say I liked Nash's character, he had some very memorable lines and of course the "power cord" at the end was classic.....

My favorite character was snarly punk troublemaker Kyle Grubbin. Justin Wellborn totally rocked that part. Moreover, I loved how Kyle ultimately turns out to be not half as bad-ass as he initially seems.

I'd have to say a tossup between Steven (Chandler Darby) and Gravedigger (James Jarrett). Steven because I saw lots of myself in him, and Gravedigger 'cause he's just so badass.

Kyle or the Coach for me. The movie would have sucked without either of them.

reply

Thank you, sir. I tried my best. But it was all about the kids as it should be. Maybe next time a good lightsaber...uh...shovel fight or something. Take care.

I thought all the characters were great, especially Gravedigger ;), but my favourites were Steven, Coach Keel, Kyle and the Quarter Punks

Kyle or the coach. Everytime the coach talked all I could think of was the coach from an episode of the Simpsons that made them play dodgeball everyday and always said "Bombardment!" right before he hit someone with the ball.

I liked Jimmy.....I have a friend named Branden that looks & acts EXACTLY like him.....it freaks me out whenever I see him haha.

Gwen for me.

Really hot, and that "But I don't know how to shoot a machette" was the best line in the film.

reply

Yeah definitely Gwen, I was so mad that she died
