Awesome!

'Aztec Rex' was exactly what I needed after a long week at work!

I was flicking through the TV guide last week and I spotted it. I knew, from the title, that I would have to see it. The synopsis confirmed that! Aztecs summoning a T Rex to protect themselves from Spanish invaders...and then asking the Sapanish to help them defeat the dinosaur? I knew this would be the holy grail of B-movies!

So, last night, I sat down with pizza and beer to watch 'Aztec Rex' (I just had a feeling it would be enhanced by that particular food and that particular beverage).

I was not disappointed!

I rank 'Aztec Rex' up there with 'Carnosaur'. I'd say I had a big grin on my face for most of the movie. I expected a cheesy, badly-written movie - but this is even better...it's a good balance of cheesiness and some fairly good dialogue and interesting characters.

I really need to see more movies directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith. The last one I saw was 'Leprechaun in Space' and that was hilariously entertaining too.

I know there are a few people posting here who were involved in the movie. So...what's the story about the Aztec pyramid? What was it made of? I thought the miniature pyramid was great (not for its historical accuracy, of course, but for its cartoony quality) and really added to the fun-factor of the movie.

I played the character Alvarado on the film so I can tell you first hand the pyramid was made of plywood and plaster with a strong framework to support the weight of so many people on it at one time. It wasn't super sturdy though, as I found out when I decided to do a little soft shoe on it the first time we shot "Conquistador" scenes there and a grip told me to stop or else I might break the pyramid. We had some good laughs over the dinosaur on the pyramid calling it "Barnie from hell".

Interesting new trend for people who work on crappy movies, they actually come on IMDB and defend it.. But not usually in this form, what they do is pretend to be average Joes who are liking the film, giving their posts some transparent credibility.
