Blu-ray HD release?

I read that the DVD is now being released on the 2nd September but does anyone know if a Blu-ray version will be?

Every film should have Nicholas Cage as Fu Manchu

reply

I kinda doubt it. Rigel Entertainment has been doing a really *beep* job of promoting this film.

Redswipe ...have to agree with Shawn, about the LACK of promotion. Amazon canceled my order (so did Overstock.com). I did write to Rigel and they didn't even bother to answer my email.

reply

Yep, that's Rigel for you. I called their office one day and some snotty little flunky gave me attitude. Pretty cocky for a second-rate production company if you ask me!

reply

Well thanks for letting me know.

Shawn, Redswipe.. I was interested in another DVD that was to be distributed by Goldhill Entertainment...and like Aztec Rex was cancelled. I did some digging (I really thought it odd that a distributor would pull out, unless there was a reason). Goldhill has been bought out by http://www.cerebellumb2b.com/ As far as I can tell, their entertainment list hasn't been repopulated with Goldhills Library.

That is good to know.

It has become very difficult to try and actually find where DVDs and Blu-Rays are produced. There are so many assorted Blu-Rays (and DVDs) out in the last year from "Scream", "Shout", "Screamfactory", "MillCreek" and too many more to list even the ones I have discovered. I certainly do miss the BLOCKBUSTER stores where I could find many of the small release movies in one place...

The RedBox, NetFLIX, and other steaming/download sources have been locking films into exclusive contracts, and that makes it even more difficult to find some films and shows.
In a way, I suppose *we* should expect a sort of 'planned obsolescense' of the movies, because the studios and independent movie houses only stay in business by making new movies...

And, there is a fairly high "entry cost" to create the necesarry digital files to source discs and streaming files.

There is always hope though.
Even an old Brooke Shields movie has been made into a nice quality DVD, SAHARA, and another one is her ENDLESS LOVE, and a 'reboot' version that doesn't include Brooke Shields. Several years ago I got excited when I found a DVD copy of her WET GOLD that had never been on anything but VHS before, (big let-down though). That DVD was at best a mediocre VHS-to-DVD transfer though, and had nothing extra. There has also been the first ever (excluding 16mm film that is) home-video release (on DVD) of JUST YOU AND ME KID with George Burns, Brooke Shields, Burl Ives, and others. That movie had been played for a long while on TCM (Turner Classic Movies), and may have been popular enough to justify the initial costs.

And off we go...
