When you look hard enough, America CAN rock. Sometimes.

Look.

At all that was achieved.

I still can't believe that people were discussing whether or not to 'give' black people the vote.

Or whether rhe Government had a right to be involved in the sexual lives of it's citizens.

And loosing people, GOOD people for something they believed in.

And touching the face of the moon.

You know, it's obvious, but I hadn't fully realised that Kennedy didn't even live to see a rocket take off.

Together, that nation of Three Hundred Million Plus, really, can lift the Earth, and the lives of all of it's inhabitants, beyond ourselves.

When did they stop dreaming the REAL dreams?

How is it they can't handle healtn care?!

How is it, that they feel it's O.K. what Israel is doing to the Palestinians?

How is it that they would allow issues of God, to divide them into those that have, and those that have not?

Between those that are Gay and those that are straight?

From those immigrants who are legal, from those who are not?

What happened here? How did selfishness set in?

And yet...there they are.

I care about them, and I love them. They have eroded so much goodwill amongst others towards them, I wonder if they'll survive the advance of the Christian Right?

The retaliation of half a world baring the brunt of their policies?

They held the moon. They really did.

Not a rocket to the Moon, but at least he got to see all the Mercury flights and see those men go into space and orbit the Earth.

The United States of America is a great nation that has done so much good for this planet we all live on. Unfortunately it has become a divided nation with politicians who either have little back bone or who lack moral fiber. All the good will that America had from the rest of the world shortly after 9/11, was gone just a few short years later.

The US was perhaps the single biggest winner to come out of World War 2, with regards to its economy and way of life during the 50's and 60's, but it might be the single biggest loser to come out of the Iraq / Middle East conflict. It is hard to believe now that the US had a thriving economy going into the events of 9/11, and that its economy is now in shambles. The costs of that war (both financially and politically) will be felt for generations.

The US needs to get back to doing what it does best, being known and respected for its brilliant innovation and daring, and less for its divisive politics.

You do realize we have health care in the US, right? We have hospitals and doctors and all that stuff.

I've seen things that would make you want to write a book on how to puke.
